Brewer`s Yeast
Brewer`s yeast is the mass resulted from pressing the residues left from the fermentation of beer. It is used in baking and in making alcholic beverages. Brewer`s yeast contains a saprophytic microscopic unicellular fungus called Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It also contains the following bioactive substances: proteins, amino acids, the vitamin B complex, namely B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacinamide), B5 (pantothenate calcium), B6 (pyridoxine), B7 (biotin), B8 (inositol), B9 (folic acid), B12 (cobalamin), B15 (pangamic acid), minerals (phosphorus, potassium, magnesium), enzymes, lipids, carbohydrates and so on. Here are a few details about some of the therapeutic actions of the vitamin B complex:
B1 (thiamine) – effective in tackling digestive and cardiac disorders, in treating depressions, neuralgia and fatigue.
B2 (riboflavin) – useful against eczema and aging skin.
B3 (niacinamide) – involved in processes related to balancing the nervous system and in oxidation-reduction processes.
B5 (calcium pantothenate) – natural adrenal glands, anti-stress remedy, increases resistance to infections.
B6 (pyridoxine) – neurotrophic, antianemic.
B7 (biotin) – neutralizes cholesterol, therefore being indicated in obesity and it prevents hair loss.
B8 (inositol) – useful in regulating the metabolism of proteins and fats.
B9 (folic acid) – antianemic effect, helps to maintain hormonal balance.
B12 (cobalamin) – antianemic, influences the nervous system by increasing the power of concentration, helps maintain hormonal balance.
B15 (pangamic acid) – improves tissue oxygenation, is a remedy against aging, helps detoxify the liver.
Overall, the vitamin complex has antianemic, vitaminising and trophic effects on the nerve cells. because of its high content of protein and amino acids, the brewer`s yeast has a hepatoprotective action and, it also helps restore saprophytic intestinal flora, especially after antibiotic treatment (due to the fungus Saccharomyces cerevisiae). Other qualities are the remineralizing, vitalizing, roborant and antiasthenic effects.
Pollen
As a granular powder, pollen is gathered by bees, which harvest it from numerous species of flowers. After harvesting, pollen has the shape of grains of different colours ranging from white to intense black, predominantly being the yellow, orange or brown ones. Pollen is considered a nutritious food because it is rich in: proteins, essential and nonessential amino acids, carbohydrates, minerals (calcium, phosphorus, potassium, iron, magnesium, iodine), vitamin B complex (B1, B2, B3, B6, folic acid , B12), C, E, beta-carotene, fat (oleic, linoleic, palmitic and arachidonic acid), flavonoids (rutin, quercetin, myricetin), phenols, enzymes and so on. Pollen has the same properties as the flowers from which it was gathered, so that lime pollen is calming and sedative, dandelion pollen has depurative effects, thyme pollen stimulates blood circulation and so on. Pollen is a polyphlore mixture that combines the properties of the plants from which it was extracted. It is recommended in: anemia, protein deficiency, liver diseases (due to the high content of protein and amino acids it has a regenerating effect on liver cells), deficiency of vitamins and minerals, asthenia, neurasthenia, devitalisation, fatigue and weakness, exhaustion, physical and intellectual effort, convalescence and in geriatrics. Also, pollen is a good remedy for asthenic, rachitic, anemic children with capricious appetite and with recurring respiratory infections.
Sage essential oil (Salviae aetheroleum)
The sage essential oil (composed of α and β-pinene, camphene, limonene, β-caryophyllene, borneol and α-terpinene) increases the mental tonus, being recommended as an adjuvant in mental and intellectual overexertion.
