Product Details
Chronic rheumatism (osteoarthritis) is a degenerative disorder of the articulatory system, whose clinical symptoms are joint pain, swelling, and the limitation of active and passive movement; the disease has a progressive evolution, more or less accelerated; it is meteorosensitive, its evolution recording periods of lull and reactivation of the symptoms.
For decades, anti-inflammatory medications have been used to temporarily relieve symptoms, but the side effects can not be neglected.
Clinical research conducted in recent years have shown that glucosamine sulphate and chondroitin sulphate (with a special tropism for articular cartilage) are effective and safe alternatives to reduce symptoms and stop the advance of the process of joint damage, without inducing any serious side effects. These two substances can produce a gradual and progressive relief of joint pain and sensitivity, improving your entire range of motion. Research results also demonstrated that glucosamine and chondroitin brought substantial benefits (> 50% of symptoms were relieved) for patients suffering from osteoarthritis and that, in some cases, they were equally effective or even better than ibuprofen in controlling symptoms, especially at the level of the knee joint.
Glucosamine and chondroitin are part of the normal articular cartilage, which act as a buffer to absorb the pressure in the joints. Glucosamine is a natural substance, that is found in conch shells. Chondroitin is also found in a natural form in shark cartilage or bovine cartridge.
Articular cartilage is a highly specialized connective tissue ( it covers the ends of bones at the area of contact between them and together with joint ligaments and joint capsules, it makes up the articulation), consisting of a type of cells called chondrocytes and an extracellular matrix that contains a lot of water (70-80%). Chondrocytes form out of glucosamine and chondroitin larger molecules known as glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), which are attached along the filament of hyaluronic acid to confer resistance to the articulations.
The extracellular matrix contains proteoglycan aggregates and collagen fibers. These molecules are permanently formed and destroyed in the articular cartilage, ensuring cartilage functionality.
If our diet contains glucosamine and chondroitin, chondrocytes can take it from the blood; but, in general, our diet contains insufficient amounts of these substances; therefore, especially people suffering from osteoarthritis, and the elderly, should take dietary supplements at safe and effective doses, that are necessary for the maintenance and the restoration of the structure and function of cartilage.
The beneficial effect of glucosamine and chondroitin against osteoarthritis is due to the increase in viscosity, which will improve joint lubrication and mobility. Chondroitin is studied for its use as anticoagulant medication (it prevents the formation of blood clots).
The product also contains MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), which is a type of sulphur, necessary for the body because it is able to perform certain important processes, as it especially plays an essential role in the normal development of growth and regeneration processes. It also plays a role in the formation of keratin ( the protein involved in skin, nails and hair growth) and collagen (the protein that maintains the flexibility of the skin and the joints); it helps to detoxify the body and to a good blood circulation, it relieves inflammation and joint and muscle pain; it also helps to the production of immunoglobulins (a class of antibodies), with an important role in ensuring the immune function of the body and the destruction of free radicals; it reduces stress, it energizes the body, it strengthens capillary walls, it maintains a balanced pH, it has beneficial effects against joint disorders, allergies, gastrointestinal disorders, and asthma.
MSM is found in: beef, poultry, fish, milk and eggs, soybeans, turnips, beans, Brussels sprout and red cabbage, onions, garlic, nuts, seeds. Unfortunately, the use of pesticides leads to the depletion of the MSM from the ground, and this is why the food we consume might not always contain the intake of MSM necessary to maintain it at an optimal level in the body; it is also destroyed by pasteurization, roasting.
Clinical studies conducted in 2004 proved that the use of a product containing a combination of glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSN has superior therapeutic effects compared to the use of only one of these substances.
